Description
ACTinBlack DTNVS-MG — Dual Tube Night Vision Goggle with Manual Gain
The DTNVS-MG is the manual gain version of the ACTinBlack dual-tube goggle, manufactured in Luxembourg. Same fibre reinforced polycarbonate housing as the DTNVS — exceeds MIL-STD-810G and USSOCOM drop test protocols by 2x — with manual gain built into the on/off button. Everything the DTNVS delivers — thin profile, per-pod focus adjustment — plus manual gain built into the on/off button that lets you adjust tube amplification in real time without navigating menus. For operators who work across a wide range of ambient light conditions, manual gain is a meaningful operational advantage.
Why Operators Choose the DTNVS-MG
Manual gain control
Manual gain is built into the on/off button, letting you dial tube amplification up or down in the field. Coming out of a vehicle, transitioning from outdoors to an illuminated interior, working near artificial light sources — manual gain lets you adapt instantly.
Fibre reinforced polycarbonate housing
Skeletonized polymer construction — lightweight and rugged. Same low-profile, close-to-face design as the standard DTNVS. 445g fully built.
Articulating pods with auto shutoff
Each pod shuts off automatically when rotated up — protecting tubes and eliminating helmet glow. Independent pod operation allows monocular use.
No external battery port
Deliberately designed without an external battery port to eliminate moisture ingress and failure points. Runs on onboard CR123A only — ~25 hours, up to 35 with auto pod shutoff.
IPD stops (optional)
Available as an optional bolt-on add-on. Standard DTNVS-MG ships without them.
Choosing Your Tube
NNVT Autogated White Phosphor (Gen 2+) — NNVT tubes are Gen 2+, not Gen 3. They are non-U.S. manufactured and carry a 2-year warranty. Autogating automatically adjusts tube gain in rapidly changing light — useful near vehicle headlights, muzzle flash, or streetlights. Solid performance at a lower price point than U.S. Gen 3 tubes. If Gen 3 performance and U.S. warranty coverage are priorities, choose Elbit or L3Harris.
Elbit PH White Phosphor — Tighter spot specifications than XLSH. Fewer and smaller blemishes in the image area for a cleaner viewing experience. 10-year warranty.
L3Harris 24UA Unfilmed White Phosphor — Top of the L3Harris unfilmed lineup. Improved contrast, strong SNR, highly regarded by experienced operators. U.S.-made Gen 3. 10-year warranty.
What is FOM?
Figure of Merit is calculated by multiplying a tube’s resolution (line pairs per mm) by its signal-to-noise ratio. A higher FOM generally indicates better overall performance, but two tubes with identical FOM can render differently in the field. Every tube ships with its actual measured datasheet.

Warranty
U.S.-made Gen 3 tubes (Elbit and L3Harris): 10-year warranty — covers the full unit including housing, optics, electronics, and tube. Does not cover accidental damage or misuse.
NNVT tubes (Gen 2+): 2-year warranty.

Who Buys the DTNVS-MG from Superior Tactical
Operators who work in environments where ambient light varies significantly — vehicle transitions, buildings, mixed outdoor/indoor environments. Manual gain gives you precise control that autogated tubes approximate automatically but can’t match for intentional, hands-on adjustment. Buyers who have used manual gain before generally don’t go back.
Common Questions
Is manual gain better than autogating?
They solve the same problem differently. Autogating adjusts automatically — hands-free, fast. Manual gain gives you deliberate control. Experienced operators who know how to use gain often prefer manual. For users who want set-and-forget convenience, autogated tubes are effective.
Can I see the tube datasheet before I buy?
Yes — email us before purchasing.
How fast does it ship?
Most orders ship within 1–2 business days.
