Can I use rechargeable battery with a PVS-14?

For a standard PVS-14 (single AA, internal boost converter rated roughly 1.0–3.0V):

Safe:

  • NiMH (Eneloop / Eneloop Pro) — the standard recommendation. 1.2V nominal is below alkaline, so zero overvoltage risk. Runtime lands close to alkaline (~20–30 hrs), and they won't leak in a stored unit the way alkalines will.
  • NiZn — 1.6V, still within tolerance, but harder to source and chargers are proprietary.

Use with caution:

  • "1.5V rechargeable lithium" AAs (Tenavolts, Kentli, EBL) — the internal buck circuit holds a flat 1.5V, so voltage is fine, but they drop off a cliff at end of charge with no taper. The low-battery indicator never fires and the unit just dies. Some also run long on the button top and bind in the cap.

Never:

  • 14500 Li-ion — 3.7V nominal, 4.2V off the charger. It fits the compartment and will cook the power supply. This is the one that shows up in RMAs.

For anything mission-critical, Energizer L91 primaries are still the answer — ~50 hrs and they hold voltage down to -40°F. NiMH loses meaningful capacity in the cold, which matters for winter use.

How do I request a repair?

Complete the information form on our repairs, and we will contact you as soon as possible.

What is your return policy?

Returns must be initiated within 3 business days of delivery — call (888) 330-7057 or email sales@superiortac.com for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number before shipping anything back. Items must be returned in NEW condition, in the original manufacturer's packaging, with all original contents included.

Restocking fees: unopened items — none. Opened items in new, resalable condition — 20%. Opened image intensifier tubes and night vision devices — 30–50% based on condition. Defective items, transit damage, or our error — no fees, and we cover return shipping.

Return shipping and insurance are the customer's responsibility (insurance is highly recommended — Superior Tactical LLC is not responsible for packages lost, stolen, or misplaced by the carrier). Do you offer financing?

Yes — we offer financing through Credova. Every product page shows an estimated monthly payment next to the price, and you can select Credova as your payment option at checkout. Pre-qualifying takes about a minute, and Credova states that checking your options will not impact your credit score.
