AB Night Vision RVM-14 — Ruggedized Night Vision Monocular

The RVM-14 is AB NightVision’s ruggedized monocular — billet machined from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum at their Bristol, Virginia facility. At 300g with milspec optics and battery, it’s 15% lighter than a typical AA PVS-14 with a 50% longer battery life (~75 hours on a single CR123). The rotary switch doubles as a manual gain control. Lifetime warranty on the housing.

Why Operators Choose the RVM-14

7075 aircraft-grade aluminum housing

Billet machined — same material and manufacturing standard as the RNVG. Media blasted, black anodized. FDE option uses Cerakote over the anodize. Built to handle real-world use.

Manual gain via rotary switch

The rotary switch turns the tube on at full brightness in the first position, then progressively dims the image as you rotate further. Gain adjustment without any additional controls or menus — one knob does both.

75-hour battery life

Single CR123 delivers approximately 75 hours at room temperature — significantly longer than the typical AA PVS-14. Low battery indicator appears in the viewing area before the battery dies.

Modular — single or bridge configuration

The small dovetail on top of the housing accepts the RVM-14 Arm for single monocular use, or the RVM-14 Bridge to pair two units in a binocular configuration. Both the Arm and Bridge articulate to lay flat against the helmet when stowed.

PVS-14 accessory compatibility

Side mounting area with a standard ¼-20 thread accepts PVS-14 accessories and mounts — compatible with the existing accessory ecosystem.

MX-11769 tube format with manual gain

MX-11769 is the single-tube format used in PVS-14 compatible monoculars. Manual gain is fully supported.

Choosing Your Tube

Elbit XLSH White Phosphor — Thin-filmed Gen 3 tubes made by Elbit Systems of America. High sensitivity, proven low-light performance, may show minor cosmetic blemishes in the image area. The standard Elbit configuration and a trusted performer across military and law enforcement. 10-year warranty.

Elbit PH White Phosphor — Tighter spot specifications than XLSH. Fewer and smaller blemishes in the image area for a cleaner viewing experience. 10-year warranty.

Elbit YH White Phosphor — Gen 3 tubes with strong overall performance metrics. 10-year warranty.

NNVT Autogated White Phosphor (Gen 2+) — NNVT tubes are Gen 2+, not Gen 3. They are non-U.S. manufactured and carry a 2-year warranty. Autogating automatically adjusts tube gain in rapidly changing light — useful near vehicle headlights, muzzle flash, or streetlights. Solid performance at a lower price point than U.S. Gen 3 tubes. If Gen 3 performance and U.S. warranty coverage are priorities, choose Elbit or L3Harris.

What is FOM?

Figure of Merit is calculated by multiplying a tube’s resolution (line pairs per mm) by its signal-to-noise ratio. A higher FOM generally indicates better overall performance, but two tubes with identical FOM can render differently in the field. Every tube ships with its actual measured datasheet.

U.S.-made Gen 3 tubes (Elbit and L3Harris): 10-year warranty — covers the full unit including housing, optics, electronics, and tube. Does not cover accidental damage or misuse.

NNVT tubes (Gen 2+): 2-year warranty.
