ACTinBlack DTNVS — Dual Tube Night Vision Goggle

The ACTinBlack DTNVS is a thin-profile dual-tube goggle designed for operators who need binocular NV in a compact, lightweight package. Manufactured by ACTinBlack in Luxembourg, the housing is fibre reinforced polycarbonate — exceeds MIL-STD-810G and USSOCOM drop test protocols by a factor of two. Machined aluminum housing, individual IPD adjustment per pod, and a tube selection that spans from Gen 2+ autogated to U.S. Gen 3 — giving buyers a range of performance tiers in one housing platform.

Individual tube focus

Articulating pods with auto shutoff

Each pod shuts off automatically when rotated beyond ~60° from center — protecting tubes and eliminating helmet glow. Pods are individually operated for monocular use or full stow.

No external battery port

Deliberately designed without an external battery port to eliminate a potential moisture ingress and failure point. Runs solely on onboard CR123A — ~25 hours, up to 35 with auto pod shutoff extending runtime.

Choosing Your Tube

NNVT Autogated White Phosphor (Gen 2+) — NNVT tubes are Gen 2+, not Gen 3. They are non-U.S. manufactured and carry a 2-year warranty. Autogating automatically adjusts tube gain in rapidly changing light — useful near vehicle headlights, muzzle flash, or streetlights. Solid performance at a lower price point than U.S. Gen 3 tubes. If Gen 3 performance and U.S. warranty coverage are priorities, choose Elbit or L3Harris.

Elbit Green Phosphor XLSH — Same Gen 3 thin-filmed tube as the XLSH, rendered in classic green phosphor. Some operators prefer green for extended wear. 10-year warranty.

Elbit XLSH White Phosphor — Thin-filmed Gen 3 tubes made by Elbit Systems of America. High sensitivity, proven low-light performance, may show minor cosmetic blemishes in the image area. The standard Elbit configuration and a trusted performer across military and law enforcement. 10-year warranty.

Elbit PH White Phosphor — Tighter spot specifications than XLSH. Fewer and smaller blemishes in the image area for a cleaner viewing experience. 10-year warranty.

Elbit SLH White Phosphor — Super Low Halo Gen 3 tubes. Reduced halo effect around bright light sources, improving performance near vehicle lights, windows, and other ambient sources. 10-year warranty.

L3Harris 24UA Unfilmed White Phosphor — Top of the L3Harris unfilmed lineup. Improved contrast, strong SNR, highly regarded by experienced operators. U.S.-made Gen 3. 10-year warranty.

What is FOM?

Figure of Merit is calculated by multiplying a tube’s resolution (line pairs per mm) by its signal-to-noise ratio. A higher FOM generally indicates better overall performance, but two tubes with identical FOM can render differently in the field. Every tube ships with its actual measured datasheet.

The DTNVS-MG adds manual gain control — a on/off button with built-in gain control that lets you adjust tube amplification in the field without going to a menu. If you work in environments with rapidly changing ambient light and want hands-on gain adjustment, the MG version. If you want a cleaner control layout, the standard DTNVS.
