This is a housing-only kit for builders who want to assemble their own night vision system. Tubes are not included — you source your own tubes and bring them to us for assembly, or install them yourself. Optics (lenses) are available as a selection at checkout.

About the RNVG Platform

The RNVG — short for Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle — is AB Nightvision’s answer to the durability problem that plagued earlier dual-tube binocular housings. The RNVG utilizes a single chassis design with two fixed optic pods rather than articulating bridges, eliminating the hinge weak points that fail under hard use. Each pod houses an independently selected tube, giving the operator the same depth perception advantage of any binocular night vision system without the durability trade-offs of articulating designs like the PVS-15 or the polymer housings used in some lower-cost builds.

Compared to articulating binoculars, the RNVG sacrifices the ability to fold one pod up and out of the way, but gains a substantially more durable platform that can take real abuse. Many builders choose the RNVG specifically because it has a reputation for surviving hard use that would crack or break less rigid designs. The mil spec dovetail mount on the front of the unit accepts any standard Wilcox or compatible shroud interface, and a lemo port on the side allows auxiliary power from external battery packs when extended runtime beyond the internal single CR123 battery is needed.

We can also install your tubes for you if you’d prefer not to handle the assembly yourself.

The Carson Optics variation includes the optical lens assemblies needed to complete the unit. The Without Optics variation is for builders who already have lens assemblies on hand from a previous build or who plan to source them separately. Common Questions

Does this kit include the image intensifier tube?
No. This is a housing kit — it includes every component needed to build a complete AN/PVS-14 except the image intensifier tube. You can source a tube separately from our image intensifier inventory or call us at (888) 330-7057 to hand select one to pair with this kit.

What image intensifier tubes are compatible?
This housing accepts standard 18mm Gen 2 and Gen 3 image intensifier tubes, including L3Harris and Elbit tubes. Contact us for current tube inventory and hand select options.

Is this built to military specification?
Yes. All components are manufactured, assembled, and tested in accordance with US Military specifications. This is the same standard used for military-issue AN/PVS-14 units.
